Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and His understanding no-one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. – Isaiah 40:28-29
I have witnessed His strong power as I do the work of homeschooling, motherhood, and adoption. I would have crumbled long ago in this work He has called me to if I was doing it in my own strength. He equips and enables me.
How do I experience His strength and power working in my life?
- Through The Word of God
Jesus answered, ‘It is written: “Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.” – Matthew 4:4
- Through the Body of Believers
And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near. – Hebrews 10: 24-25
- Through Prayer
But I will sing of Your strength; I will sing aloud of Your steadfast love in the morning. For You have been to me a fortress and a refuge in the day of my distress. O my Strength, I will sing praises to You, for You, O God, are my fortress, the God who shows me steadfast love. – Psalm 59: 16-17
How do I see His strength played out in my life? When high walls of frustration and impossibility stop me in my tracks, I call to Him and He clears the way for me to see the situation as He sees it. He shows me how to forgive, how to love. He pulls me out of the muck of my stuck situation.
When doubt causes me to fear and stumble, I call to Him and open His Word. He hears me and through His Word He encourages me to press on. He allows music that speaks of His truth to cross my path, He brings people to give affirmation and courage, and He gives me peace and conviction through His Spirit.
When the burden of all that needs to be accomplished in a day weighs heavy, I call to Him and He shows me how to take one small step at a time as I ask for help at each turn.
As I seek to walk closely with Him, He not only helps me to accomplish the daily work He has for me, but He shows me when I need to step away from the normal routine and tend to matters of great importance. Sometimes the school lesson or routine task at hand is laid aside as God opens my eyes to a child who needs compassion for his or her broken heart, to peace that needs restoring after sibling squabbles, or to a child who asks a question that has ramifications for eternity.
His power and strength guide me and He enables me through the moments of my days.
This life I live is not lived by my strength. I live by His power and His strength working in and through me.
But He said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. – 2 Corinthians 12:9
